80 Years of Engineered Excellence at Denco Fluid Systems

In 2024, Denco Fluid Systems marks 80 years of operation. From our origins in Herefordshire during the post-war years to our current role as a supplier of advanced engineered systems, our history has been built on technical integrity, continuity, and trusted partnerships.

Established in 1944

Our business was founded in 1944 by Denereaz Colam as Farvalube Ltd, with the aim of introducing American centralised lubrication systems to the UK and Europe. Operating initially from Peterchurch, the company relocated to Hereford in 1945 and began local manufacturing by 1947 in response to import restrictions.

In 1948, Denco Engineering Services Ltd was formed to design and manufacture oil circulating systems — marking the beginning of our long-standing focus on engineered fluid systems.

By 1952, we had moved into a purpose-built facility on Holmer Road, Hereford. This site would support Denco’s manufacturing growth for decades to come.

Diversification and Expansion

The 1950s and 60s saw significant growth, including the establishment of Denco Miller Ltd, specialising in heat pumps and temperature control. Denco Holdings became a public company in 1960, supporting further expansion across the UK and internationally.

Following acquisitions and mergers through the William Press Group and later AMEC PLC, Denco continued to supply critical systems for process cooling, lubrication, and industrial automation.

New Ownership, Same Commitment

In 2000, a management buyout meant Denco were an independent company, no longer part of the Amec group.

Shortly after in  2005 the Lubrication Division was sold to the IMCI Group and in 2006 Operations were relocated to the Rotherwas Industrial Estate, where new premises allowed for the consolidation of office, engineering, and manufacturing functions.

In 2023, we rebranded as Denco Fluid Systems to reflect our broader capability across lubrication, cooling, and filtration technologies. This rebrand aligned us more closely with Hellan Fluid Systems, our sister company based in the United States.

Recent Growth

In 2024, we expanded once again — doubling our facility size to meet rising demand for in-house manufactured skid systems. This mirrors similar growth periods in the 1950s and 1960s and ensures we remain equipped to meet the evolving requirements of our customers.

Looking Ahead

Our approach remains consistent: to deliver systems that are technically robust, application-specific, and built to last.

We’re proud of our legacy and grateful for the colleagues, customers, and partners who have contributed to our progress over the past eight decades.

As we look to the future, our focus remains the same — providing engineered fluid systems that perform reliably, wherever they are installed.
