Furnace Heat Treatment – Installation Success

Scope

  • Off-site fabrication of flow manifolds with valves, strainers & flow meters
  • On-site fabrication of a range of 80mm & 200mm diameter stainless steel pipework and supports
  • On-site installation and closure welding / fabrication of pipework at a height of 6 metres above ground level
  • Supply and site installation of data logging panel
  • Supply and installation of a range of smaller bore pipework for local terminations
  • Project value approx. £200K

Project Details

This site has a primary cooling water system from an existing 20 year old cooling tower.

The plant required a substantial upgrade of the furnace plant & cooling equipment due to blocked pipework – caused by poor quality water and incorrect /irregular water treatment.

The project was completed on site within a very tight time frame requiring around the clock working to renew all of the existing mild steel distribution pipework and replace with new stainless steel pipework along with an extension for additional furnace plant to be added at a later date.

Significant challenging factors relating to this project were the high level nature of the work coupled with strict observed shut down periods to limit plant down time and minimise the disruption in service.

Our experience in fabrication, installation, heavy lifting, working at height and programme adherence were all called to the fore to ensure success.
